Concrete, cherry wood, graffiti, anti graffiti wax

BERGEN is a series of works made for the exhibition Knust I Offentlig Rom at Kristiansand Kunsthall in 2015. The exhibition was curated by Sigurd Tenningen and Jan Freuchen and debated polemics in relation to art in public space- seen from inside of the white cube. The work BERGEN was inspired by the unpolemical street art in Bergen, embraced both by the public and authorities through city funding support programs, media publicity and a rapidly growing number of commercial street art galleries. The concrete slabs were treated with anti graffiti wax, sprayed with graffiti and then washed with hot water leaving parts of the concrete exposed and finally framed in cherry wood frames.
